The SolidSuit made its world debut on Kickstarter, marking the first time RHINOSHIELD engaged in direct, intimate dialogue with global users. This crowdfunding launch represented more than a product introduction. It was the beginning of a conversation that would drive a decade of innovation.

As RHINOSHIELD's first phone case to perfectly merge drop protection performance, comfortable grip feel, and minimalist design aesthetics, the SolidSuit established its foundation in comprehensive smartphone protection.

This full-coverage phone case achieved something remarkable: it became a global user favorite without massive advertising campaigns or marketing warfare but purely through superior drop protection, ergonomic design, and sleek styling.

We've never treated design like a sprint. It's always been a marathon requiring endurance and conviction. Behind every generation lies countless iterations of scrapping and rebuilding, and our continuous redefinition of what "protection" truly means.

2016 | From Protection Gaps to Complete Coverage

In 2016, while most phone cases on the market still featured "open-bottom, partial edge protection" designs, RHINOSHIELD chose a more challenging path: creating a phone case with complete 360-degree side coverage.

This decision meant tackling far more complex engineering challenges: material formulation, structural integrity, mold design, and the intricate details of color application and texture bonding all requiring relentless testing and refinement.

Through countless experiments, we established our dual-material structural design and integrated diverse material finishes including leather, carbon fiber, brushed metal, and marble textures. Each material brought unique thermal expansion coefficients and molding temperature requirements. To ensure consistent quality, we had to develop customized manufacturing parameters for every single material.

SolidSuit's backplate textures were actually hand-aligned and applied one by one by our internal team. This dedication embodies our commitment to craftsmanship.

SolidSuit delivered unprecedented complete protection while pioneering the era of customizable printed designs in the phone case market. While other brands were still exploring basic protection features, RHINOSHIELD was already empowering users to express their personal style through printing and material choices.

2018 | From Protection to Self-Expression

When we integrated printing technology into SolidSuit, we knew this wasn't just adding a feature. We were granting every user the right to express their individuality.

But challenges emerged: How do you make colors adhere perfectly across different material surfaces? Our product design team conducted hundreds of experiments, with each failure serving as a stepping stone to success.

This generation also fully transitioned to BPA-free materials.

In 2016, the state of California formally listed BPA as a harmful chemical under Proposition 65.

By 2017, Taiwan’s Ministry of Finance had banned BPA from thermal paper used in e-invoices, to comply with environmental and health requirements.

The rising awareness of BPA’s risks prompted RHINOSHIELD CEO Eric to ask a striking question:

“If even the thermal paper we touch for just three seconds must be BPA-free, then shouldn’t the phone cases we hold in our hands every day be just as safe?”

This question prompted our product development team to rethink material selection, establishing an unwavering commitment:
From that moment forward, every RHINOSHIELD product would avoid bisphenol compounds from the source.

Ultimately, we found the ideal fusion of color saturation and durability, delivering both visual appeal and safety assurance.

2019-2021 | The Invisible Evolution

You might not have noticed, but during these three years, SolidSuit was quietly maturing into something exceptional. Like craftsmen perfecting their art, we refined every detail:

• Corner protection strength enhanced for reliable durability
• Texture quality and adhesion technology simultaneously optimized
• Anti-slip grip texturing added to sides, combining functionality with visual sophistication

2022 | The Greatest Turning Point

To make our products more eco-friendly and recyclable, RHINOSHIELD initiated a comprehensive mono-material conversion project across all product lines.

From our Mod to Clear cases, we systematically transitioned from dual-material structures to mono-material construction. The SolidSuit faced its defining moment: evolving from a dual-material structure to TPE mono-material design.

What makes TPE phone cases superior?

TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer): An environmentally friendlier material with excellent flexibility and cushioning capabilities. It delivers both soft-touch comfort and outstanding drop protection while offering the key advantage of "single-material molding for easier recycling."

What did this decision mean?

• All familiar molds scrapped

• Structural design from ground zero

• Material formulations completely rebuilt

• Printing processes entirely reconstructed

TPE material's sensitivity exceeded our expectations. Every degree of temperature variation affected molding quality, proven printing techniques no longer applied, and even drop-test standards needed complete reconstruction.

Print peeling, dimensional deviations, quality instability—nearly every manufacturing process was telling us "no."

But we didn't back down.

Because we firmly believed that a product designed for recyclability from day one represents RHINOSHIELD's true future.

We also seized this opportunity to introduce interchangeable camera ring colors, from contrasting combinations to gradient extensions, ensuring even the smallest components retained personalization potential.

A single clean line on the camera ring subtly echoes RHINOSHIELD’s shield geometry. We believe true branding lives in the details. No logo needed, just unmistakable design.

As we promised our users: "Protect your phone, protect your personal style."

Completing the TPE mono material integration was just the beginning. The real challenge lay in achieving excellence.

Between 2023 and 2024, after conquering technical hurdles, we turned our attention to every detail:

• Optimizing mold flow for more stable printing and solid feel
• Improving coating technology to find the perfect balance between print integrity and structural stability
• For a single new color, we tested dozens of color combinations and material adjustments

These seemingly insignificant improvements all stem from one truth we firmly believe: True stability comes from invisible persistence.

In 2025, we mark a bold new milestone: SolidSuit evolves into SolidX.

But this isn't just a name change. It's a complete redefinition of impact protection.
